1-Mile A DAY

A mile a day may sound easy, or it may sound hard. Either way, it’s going to challenge you. All you have to do is move your body forward for at least 1 mile, every day, in September. The “mile a day” can be achieved Monday – Friday anytime during the day (before work, during lunch, after work) or just a couple of short walks throughout the day or use the stairs at work. The goal is to get out of your chair for short moving breaks throughout the day or move the body before or after work.

Here are a few ideas 

Talk standing.
Have walking meetings.
Take a walking break today. Every minute counts!
Stand up and do some basic strength exercises, like squats, wall push-
ups, side bends or calf raises.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator, even if only for a floor or two.
Park a little further from your destination and walk the rest of the way.
If you sit for long periods of time, set a reminder on your phone or
calendar to stand up and move every hour or so.
Plan a family outing to do something active together.
Stand up and see how long you can balance on one leg. Get competitive and challenge someone else.
Take your dog for a nice long walk. You’ll both benefit. No dog? Walk a friend, neighbor, kid or spouse!
Walk in place, work out with weights or a resistance band, or do some yoga or stretching while you watch TV.
Run or walk on the treadmill, or outside.

    I walked 2 blocks at 9:30 am 9/4/19 from work
    And 2 blocks at 5:30 am to 7:30 am. 9/4/19
