5 Tips To Help You Get More Done

Turn off your phone:  Obvious right?  Actually only 15% of Americans put their phones away while trying to complete a task.  The consequence?  You are at the mercy of every person in your contact book, social media site, and email notification.   Some of us don’t even need an incoming notification to break our momentum and check out what’s going on in the Facebook world.

Log off of email:  This is especially true while working on a task in the office.  It’s not that you need to stay logged off of your email all day.  Not at all.  Many of us receive our work flow via email.  BUT when you are working on a big project, sign off.  Your project needs your full attention and emails tend distract and throw you off your game.    

Caffeine: Studies have shown time and time again that a caffeine boost can increase attention span.  Take this advice with a grain of salt.  Don’t become a coffee addict.  However, I think we can all agree that some days we are more sluggish than others and a small boost of caffeine never hurt anyone. 

Take a break:  This may seem counter-intuitive but it is one of the best things to help increase productivity.  Think about it.  When your to-do list becomes overwhelming and all you can think about is how impossible it is going to be to get everything done, paralysis will often set in.  You don’t know where to start or how to finish.  Take a break.  Go for a walk.  Recharge and reboot your brain.  Make your break meaningful with the intent to go back to work refreshed and rejuvenated. 

Eat an apple and have a glass of water:  Studies show that eating an apple offers the perfect combination of nutrients to jump start your mind.  Pair that with a nice glass of H20 and you are ready to get more done.

This is just a list to get you started.  What works for one person may not work for another.  However,
