First of all…let’s be real people. I don’t care how focused you are with your fitness goals, everyone needs to have a little fun! We’ve all been there. You start a new diet plan, and for the first little bit you’ve got the eye of the tiger. You’re focused and nothing is going to stop you! But let’s face it…every once in awhile you want a delicious meal or a yummy treat. Well, you can have that delicious meal or treat and indulge once in awhile, you just need to do it in a healthier way. Today’s blog is a cheat meal done right! How about a burger and fries?
1 ½ lbs lean ground beef
2 oz. blue cheese crumbled
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup chopped green onions
½ tsp. garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
condiments of your choice: ketchup, mayo etc.
Preheat grill for high heat. Gently form the burger mixture into patties.
Oil the grill. Grill patties 5 minutes per side, or until well done. Serve on rolls. (*We love the ultra thin whole wheat buns)
These sweet potato french fries will change your life. I’m serious! Salty-sweet, baked sweet potato fries are our favorite new snack.
one large sweet potato
sea salt (coarse)
freshly ground black pepper
good quality olive oil or coconut oil
a peeler (*Optional…we like the skin on!)
a sharp chef’s knife
a cutting board
a large baking sheet
Set the oven to 450 degrees. Cut the sweet potato in half. Take a half of the sweet potato and cut it into large slices about 3/4 inch thick. Cut the larger slices into fries. Your fries should be 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick.
Repeat this for the other half!
Once the sweet potato is cut into fries, throw them into a bowl. Sprinkle a good pinch of sea salt over them, and apply a ton of freshly ground black pepper.
Drizzle with olive oil or coconut oil till lightly evenly coated. Mix it all together and spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Once everything’s mixed, space out the fries on the baking sheet. *Make sure they’re all evenly spaced and not touching or they might get soggy.
Bake for 15 minutes. Toss and turn fries over and bake for another 5-10 minutes depending on how dark you want them. Enjoy!
