Feel Good Mantras

January 9, 2019

All of us technically have a mantra, and we may not even be aware of it. You know — it’s that one phrase you tell yourself repeatedly over and over. For some of us, its a positive mantra: I’m amazing. I love my life. I feel happy. And then there are the mantras that many of us are plagued by: I’m so fat. I’m not good enough. I’m so stupid. What if I’m not capable? Many of us hear these phrases in our heads so often that we believe them!  So what if we could replace these thoughts with phrases that are not only better for us, but can help us be confident, feel less stressed, and live our best lives? The secret to achieving your best self might just be a simple mantra away…

Ok, what’s a “mantra”

The term “mantra” is an ancient Sanskrit term, used in Hinduism and Buddhism to mean a phrase that was repeated frequently in meditation. Neurologically, mantra training can reduce distractions and calm the mind. It’s also been proven to reduce stress because repetition and focus regulate chemicals in the brain, releasing endorphins and blocking stress hormones like cortisol.

Mantras can be used as a tool for focus during meditation, or a consistent reminder throughout the day to get back on track, or looked to when you’re in a moment of fear, stress or anxiety. The goal is to find a mantra that resonates with you.

Here are some examples of some of our favorite mantras. Find the one that clicks with you and memorize it..  say it to yourself daily or write it on your bathroom mirror. Use it when you are struggling, feeling lonely or self doubting. Remind yourself that you are pretty dang amazing!
