Gifts You (And Your Family) Will Remember Forever

December 9, 2015

Tis the season for gift shopping- and a lot of it.  Do you ever ask yourself, “What’s the point?”  Many of us love the act of giving inherently, it’s in our DNA, but can you name each present you received last year?  What about the year before?  It’s okay if you can’t, for the most part it’s the norm.

Salus has a few ideas to make this Holiday Season one you will remember forever.   How do you ask? You give something money can’t buy- memories.

Holiday Season Activities

  1. Senior Centers.  There are many seniors living in low income housing with little family who depend entirely on strangers to experience love at Christmas.  A visit with some home-baked goods, caroling, or simply playing a board game with company can make a tremendous different for them.
  2. Feed The Homeless.  There are hungry, homeless families in every large community in the world.  Join or organize an effort to provide a Christmas meal for them.  Regardless of the reasons for why people are where they are, everyone needs support.
  3. Backpacks for the Homeless
  4. Sub for Santa.  Many communities organize sub-for-Santa programs or ANgel-tree programs that allow families to choose individuals or groups and help provide Christmas. You can also find a family to help outside of community experts.
  5. The Gift of Health.  Even with these highly fulfilling gifts, if you still feel the need to purchase a few presents to those closest to you, think about giving something that can enhance the quality of your loved ones lives.
