How To Motivate Yourself

We all struggle with it. We have an idea, but never have the time to follow through. We create the to-do list but end up procrastinating. Motivation seems to be at an all-time low right now, and we get it, we really do. We seem to always be tired and struggle to find the drive to get up and get going. This blog post tackles the biggest obstacles of motivation and gives three tips on how to get that inspiration back!

Make ONE attainable, measurable goal.

Studies show that making more than one goal at a time results in you being less likely to attain it. Focus on one goal at a time and make sure it pushes you but is absolutely attainable. A poor example of this kind of goal would be to eat more fruits and vegetables. First of all, it has no way to measure it. What does eating more even mean? Second, it focuses on two things; eating fruits AND vegetables. We want to only focus on one thing at a time. A better goal would be: I will eat 3 servings of fruit every day for the rest of this month. Now pull out your pen and paper and write down your goal!

Have a reward for yourself.

I know I’m much more likely to get out of bed every morning and go on a run if there’s a cute new pair of running leggings waiting for me at the end of the finish line. A reward at the end of achieving a goal or accomplishing your to-do list can motivate you more than you would think.

Create a good support system.

Surround yourself with people who will encourage you to attain your goals. Be accountable to someone, they’ll check in with you often and help make sure you’re on the right track. Groups that rely on you to show up for workouts or a person that follows up on how you’ve been eating this week will help motivate you to keep working hard!
