How To Set Fulfilling Goals

If there is one thing I have noticed in my line of work, it’s that people rarely set goals that actually excite them.   I often hear people say they want to lose weight, make more money, get a six-pack, etc. While I want a nice toned booty as much as the next person, it’s not going to give me true fulfillment.

People usually give up on their goals because they don’t really care about them to begin with. Salus has been inspired quite a bit by Danielle Laporte’s book, Desire Map. Essentially her suggestion is to base goals on how you want to feel. So rather than setting goals based on physical attainment, you decide how you want to feel and move forward from there.

For example:

“I want to make more money.” How would making more money make you feel? Accomplished? Powerful? Comfortable?

“I want to lose 10 pounds.” How would losing 10 pounds make you feel?

Confident? Strong? Handsome? Beautiful?

So the next time you set goals consider how you want to feel. Let those feelings be your guide to living a happier, healthier life.
