The new year is a great time to think about what you really want for your wellness goals. We want to encourage you to focus on how you feel and make choices that help you feel confident and content. To Kick-off Wellness Week, lets discuss how you prepare both the mind and body to making such a commitment. Simply saying you’re going to eat better or exercise more is not enough; committing to a healthier lifestyle takes time and attention.
Reflect on your motivation – Take some time to clarify why you want a healthier lifestyle. While there are no “right” or “wrong” reasons for changing your habits, having a good understanding of your reasons will carry you through challenging times.
As CEO of your life and/or business, what are you most excited about and ready to start paying attention to this year? Your health? Your family? Your career? A hobby? A long-held dream? What do you want to invite more of into your life this year? What would make you jump out of bed every morning? What kind of lifestyle shifts would have you fall into bed at night “good” and tired? What matters most right now, and what will you do less of this year in order to create more space for what matters?
Set an Intention – For example, at the beginning of each day or before each exercise session set an intention for what you want out of it. Whether it’s to deny dessert that day or feel peaceful, an intention gives you a focus for your new habits.
Consider what things you want more of and less of this year by completing the More of/Less of worksheet. Set an overall intention for the year ahead. Get out of your comfort zone this year.
MORE – attentiveness, cooking, gratitude, green juice, unplugging, yoga, time with friends and family, playing outside, and reading.
LESS – shopping, over-scheduling, social media, distractions.
“The future doesn’t belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave.”
