Power Packed Sweet Chia Dip

June 1, 2015

Just like many other health nuts I’ve been a sucker for chia seeds for quite some time. It’s an ancient superfood of the Aztecs that can be used in almost any recipe if you’re willing to get creative. The tiny black seeds are packed full of  omega-3, protein (3g per tablespoon), antioxidants, and fiber. And maybe I’m weird, but I enjoy the texture they add to things. It freaks some people out — I get it, it’s a little bit different. But give it a shot, you might fall in love.

My time is precious and so is yours but that doesn’t mean we should neglect our bodies and turn to quick fixes for food. This dip is healthy, easy to make, and kid friendly. My nieces and nephews couldn’t get enough of it! You can eat this on its own or dip fruit in it.

What you need:

1 1/2 cups of Plain Greek Yogurt

2 Tablespoons of organic Chia Seeds (Brand: Nutiva. GMO free)

1 Tablespoon of organic honey (try buying raw, local honey if you’re battling allergies, it will help!)

1 Tablespoon of Hemp Seed

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 Tablespoon of Flaxseed

And theeeen….

Mix all of the ingredients together. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes. Cut up your fresh fruit and enjoy!
