Raising The Bar

August 17, 2018

Bars? Ya I raise them.

You hear people talk about raising the bar, but what does that really mean?  To us, it means expecting more from yourself, from others and your life. Most importantly it means moving away from your comfort zone and taking action.

It’s time to set expectations and go beyond them. Here’s our favorite tips.

The first step I’ve seen in successfully raising the bar for anything is: honesty.  You need to open your eyes  even more and be really honest about what’s actually going on in your home… or your office… or your life.

One of the best ways to raise awareness is to get back to basics.  When you have your own personal sense of wellbeing in a good place, you can see things more clearly.

Second: Decide what matters most and say NO to the rest.  If you try to do everything better all at once, its almost like asking for trouble.

For example, you find that you give one hundred different excuses or apologize incessantly for essentially saying no. This is wrong and unhealthy. Saying no doesn’t make you a “rude;” it just means you know how to set boundaries, respect yourself and prioritize your time.

When you learn to say no, you will stop putting up with a lot of nonsense that is unhealthy. People will respect you, from co-workers to spouse.

Third: Be patient. You want a better job, a new partner, a better booty and more money.

Unfortunately, those things don’t come overnight. The reality is you have to be patient for these things to happen and also, work REALLY hard at getting what you want.

This is one of the hardest things to do! I struggle with being patient all the time.

Last but not least: Get fired up and work hard! You don’t have to be a super hero, you just got to be a little better than you were yesterday.

Don’t be afraid to fall, and be prepared to rise up again and again until the job is done. Test your own limits and learn at each step. Start by showing those around you how it’s done and test your own limits by raising the bar for yourself. Take it one step at a time, raise your expectations from yourself just a little every day.
