Take a Break! Take a Hike!

After a long day of work or whatever we’re engaged in, our muscles are tight, our eyes are strained and stress threatens to wear us down. Exercise helps combat all these things while releasing healing and energizing endorphins.

Hiking is a great outdoor workout for everyone—and there’s a hike for every skill level. It’s a great way to break a sweat and get your zen on at the same time!

We have some of the most amazing mountains in the world right in our backyard. The Wasatch Mountains have a ton of trails. Now there’s an easy way to scout out hikes and tailor them for what you want. Just download the app called ALL TRAILS. (Link: https://www.alltrails.com/mobile)

It’s really easy to use the filters to find hikes that are rated the best, ones that are near you, or you can sort by level of difficulty or length. It will tell you if the trails are kid friendly and dog friendly so you know if you can bring Brutus and Fluffy. Then it will connect you on the map and give you driving directions. You can even track your progress, elevation and distance for others to view.

The great thing about hiking is that there’s so much variety. There are trails with incredible scenery, waterfalls, caves, huge trees and wildlife. Once you get good at a trail, you can go up and down faster to give yourself a new challenge. Hiking is great to do with friends because you can push each other and chat along the way.

I like to do as many workouts outside as possible. I love the open air and the way I feel refreshed when I’m finished. Nature heals your soul and revitalizes you so that you’re ready to take on whatever life throws at you. One way to effectively get your workouts in is to make them FUN. What better way to accomplish that than hiking with friends, overlooking our beautiful valley?
