Tame Your Tummy Trouble

August 1, 2016

Tummy Trouble? Whether the culprit is a big meal, rich food, or something more serious like IBD, bloating and indigestion never feel good!

With a combination of deep breathing, stretches that target abdominal organs, and twists that massage and wring out stuck intestinal toxins, this sequence relieves a wide range of digestive discomfort (think: gas, bloating, constipation). And the best part? With better digestion comes more energy.

Triangle Pose: Tone your belly, and get a good stretch and twist with this pose.

Seated Spinal Twist: Twists get things moving and improve circulation, and here’s a simple one. As you breathe, continue to deepen the twist. Stay here for five breaths.twsit

Spinal Twist: We’ve all heard yoga teachers say, “Twisting aids digestion.” It used to go in one ear and out the other, until my own yoga teacher training. Compressing the colon in specific ways (right to left) can really aid in digestion. Detoxifying twists can stimulate the movement of those toxins that accumulate in the body and help usher them out.bridge 1

Bridge Pose: This mild inversion helps your blood flow, making you feel more energized. knees to chest

Knees to Chest: You’ll want to do this simple stretch—also known as the wind-relieving pose—to gain relief from bloating and gas pains.
